Clic La Mode Group Exhibition
The Clic La Mode studio is part of an artists studio cooperative called Second Floor Studios which currently contains approx 80 studios. There’ll be 120 spaces by autumn 2010 with plans to grow to potentially 200+ by 2012 making it one of the largest affordable artist studios cooperatives in Europe.
There is an “Open Studio Weekend” planned for the weekend of the 15th & 16th of May where the entire complex will be opened up to the general public and as Clic La Mode and the Clic La Mode Studio is a part of this we have been invited to take part by showcasing our members work.
So I’m very excited to say that we are planning a group exhibition for Clic La Mode members to show their work with the studio temporarily converted into a fabulous gallery space for us to show and possibly sell our work.
As the exhibition will need to highlight the link between the studio and the cooperative, the exhibition will be limited to images shot by Clic members in our studio. So far there are quite a few of you who’ve used the space and I know there are quite a few more of you planning on using the space.
For anyone not having had the opportunity to shoot in the studio, national or international based members there will also be the opportunity to show work on a slideshow on an imac or projected.
Of course as well as the exhibition there will also be the opportunity for people to come down and see the studio as it’s an open weekend after all!
There will be a VIP invite only night on Thursday the 13th May and the Saturday & Sunday will open to the public and there’ll be lots of activities, interactive displays and talks by some of the other member artists including glass makers, illustrators, painters, mosiac artists and we’ve been asked if we’d like to do anything, maybe shooting portraits etc etc
We are expecting 800 people through the doors over the weekend just from the cooperative and add to this numbers from a successful exhibition through Clic and we’ve got the potential to be showing work to well over a 1000 people. There is a very specific marketing and PR campaign planned both for London as a whole and the local community from the Second Floor and we’ll be having a massive push to get people down, possibly with agent’s making the trip south of the river.
I’m really excited by this and the fact that I’ve been invited to open this up to the whole of Clic La Mode and so I really hope that we’ve got enough time to really make use of this chance and a lot of you choose to get involved. I’ll send more details out when I know, but for anyone interested in exhibiting the first step is to book the studio and shoot something!!
James
